Today we’re flying to Belgium more specifically, to the cozy student town of Leuven! Nestled between cobblestone streets, historic buildings, and way too many bikes, Leuven is the ultimate student hotspot. Home to KU Leuven, one of Europe’s top universities.
This city is buzzing with energy, late-night study sessions, and unforgettable parties during the week (because who goes out on weekends, right?).
In this episode of Across Campuses, we’re diving into what life is really like as a student in Leuven, from missed morning classes and coffee-fueled study sessions to cantus nights, cozy bars, and endless student events.

So, I usually wake up way too late (oops) and end up missing my morning classes — honestly, anything before 10 a.m. is just not happening. Eventually, my friends manage to drag me along for a lecture and a much-needed coffee (or lunch). At least the walk to campus makes up for it — it’s always so pretty!

After that, I probably have a group project, an assignment, or I need to catch up on classes I skipped… so we end up studying together at a café or the library (depends on how serious we feel that day). After, if it’s sunny, we’ll usually hang out in the park or relax on a terrace with a drink.

In the evening, I cook at my student residence, where there are tons of other students — there’s always someone to chat with while cooking. Sometimes we have “girls’ drinks” or fun events like a “kotentocht”, where every room in the hallway has to prepare a cocktail (we never make it to the 20th room, oops).

And since there’s always something happening in Leuven, I might get ready for a cantus or another crazy student event. We go out during the week, not the weekends ,that’s just how Leuven works!
