Today we’re heading to Singapore, a compact and vibrant island where everyday life moves with impressive efficiency. It’s also home to the National University of Singapore (NUS), one of Asia’s leading universities and a lively academic hub.
Meet Zi Ning, a 3rd-year Marketing student who has spent her entire life in Singapore. She describes her city as a place where food plays a central role, the tropical humidity shapes daily life, and everything functions with almost perfect coordination.
What sets Singapore apart as a student city, according to her experience, is how incredibly convenient it is. The environment is clean, safe, and easy to navigate, with public transport connecting every corner of the island. On campus, this sense of order blends with a strong multicultural atmosphere, thanks to the many international students who make NUS a dynamic and diverse environment.
Through Zi Ning’s perspective, Singapore stands out as a small island with a big personality: efficient, flavorful, and always full of movement.

My day starts with a simple bowl of oatmeal , before I leave home early to catch two buses to school. After morning classes, I usually grab lunch with friends, often Bak Chor Mee, my comfort meal.

Afternoons are packed with more classes or group projects. After school, I head to my grandmother’s house for dinner (the best part of my day), spend some time with my cousin, then go home to shower, unwind, scroll through TikTok, and reset for the next day.
